Zuidelijk van Wijk aan Zee ligt het Noordzeekanaal waar veel internationale scheepvaart komt. Aan de noordkant zoals boven beschreven het Noord-Hollands duinreservaat.
Op slechts enkele kilometers ligt Beverwijk waar het winkelend publiek terecht kan op en rond de Breestraat of op de vermaarde Meubelboulevard. Grote attractie op zaterdag en zondag is de Beverwijkse Bazaar waar men zowel terecht kan voor 2e hands als nieuwe spullen de exotische Oosterse Markt en alles op computergebied.
Op 20 kilometer zuidwaarts vindt u Amsterdam en de Keukenhof en 20 km noordwaarts vindt u Alkmaar met de beroemde kaasmarkt op de vrijdagen (periode half april tot half september van 10 tot 12 uur op het Waagplein).
De Noordpier met zijn prima golfslag voor surfers.
