Südlich von Wijk aan Zee ist der Nordseekanal, wo es viel internationale Schifffahrt gibt. Auf der Nordseite, wie oben beschrieben, erstreckt sich das nordholländische Dünenreservat .
Nur wenige Kilometer entfernt befindet sich die Stadt Beverwijk, wo man auf der Breestraße oder im renommierten Möbelboulevard einkaufen kann. Eine große Attraktion am Samstag und Sonntag ist der "Beverwijkse Bazaar", wo man sowohl Dinge zweiter Hand als auch Interessantes vom exotischen orientalischen Markt und alles rund um den Computermarkt bekommt.
20 Kilometer südlich liegt Amsterdam und der Keukenhof und 20 km nördlich finden Sie den berühmten Käsemarkt in Alkmaar (freitags von Mitte April bis Mitte September geöffnet von 10 bis 12 Uhr auf dem Waagplein). Außerdem ist dort der „Noordpier" mit seinen großen Wellen für Surfer.
